Violence Intervention Program (VIP) is a dedicated organization that provides support and care for individuals experiencing abuse, neglect, and trauma. Serving approximately 20,000 people annually, VIP specializes in offering various programs aimed at helping both children and adults, including those dealing with issues like domestic violence, substance exposure during pregnancy, and specific support for the LGBTQ+ community. With a strong focus on improving mental health and overall well-being, VIP engages volunteers and donors to enhance their services and reach more individuals in need.

• Conduct initial needs assessments to identify presenting needs and goals of the residents, re-evaluated on an ongoing basis;
• Partner with residents to create a safety plan, to be updated at regular intervals;
• Develop and advocate on behalf of action plans for residents, using a strengths-based approach;
• Provide intensive case management services that include domestic violence and crisis counseling, information and referrals, advocacy, and accompaniment services;
• Provide weekly sessions with individual residents to review ongoing needs and develop a plan for support;
• Complete program intakes and psycho-socials for prospective participants of the program;
• Promote positive relationships and mediate conflict among residents among participants, their families, and housemates;
• Coordinate activities and assist in facilitating events that promote community-building, individual development, and self-determination;
• Maintain proper documentation (record keeping, reports, and statistical information) in a timely manner for all clients;
• Provide complete and accurate information about resident outcomes and services;
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, and other service providers to ensure high-quality, coordinated support;
• Adhere to mandated reporting requirements as they relate to such issues on child abuse/neglect; responsibly adhere to VIP protocols regarding the risk of suicide/homicide;
• Participate in various programmatic meetings: case conferences, all-staff meetings, team meetings, etc.;
• Participate in community outreach and /or educational workshops, as needed by the program;
• Provide coverage as needed; this includes, but is not limited to, on-call evening, overnight, and weekend coverage;
• Perform other tasks and administrative duties as directed by management.

Counselor Advocate

Counselor Advocate supporting Latinx communities to end gender-based violence at Morivivi Safe Dwelling. Conducting assessments, providing case management, and facilitating support services for residents.

• The Counselor Advocate provides crisis intervention and self-empowerment counseling in both individual and group settings to survivors of gender-based violence.
• Deliver direct services, including holistic case assessment, case management, and advocacy across criminal legal, social welfare, housing, immigration, and other related systems.
• Conduct initial needs assessments on all clients and their children to identify needs and goals during the initial intake and reevaluate as necessary.
• Provide intensive case management services based on the program participant (s) needs/goals and service plan, including weekly (scheduled) case management sessions.
• Provide personal support for the families, including but not limited to translation and accompaniment services as it relates to public assistance and housing.
• Provide information and referrals; advocacy and accompaniment to participants throughout the legal, immigration, social, and human resources systems, over the phone, in-person, and through written correspondence promptly.
• Assist participants with educational needs by advocating for tutoring services, school placement, parent/teacher/child involvement, and medical services.
• Stay abreast of changes in entitlements and benefit resources and systems for information and referrals, advocacy and accompaniment as to secure needed services.
• Maintain proper documentation on time for all clients.
• Develop service plans with measurable outcomes and services identified by the program and funding source in a timely fashion.
• Include accurate information about participants’ outcomes and services to inform their counseling plan.
• Consistently assess clients' safety to ensure their security and that of their children.
• Create a safety plan as needed.
• Provide crisis and promote self-esteem/motivation to participants.
• Validate, support, and encourage strength-based counseling with focus on personal wellness and independence as identified.
• Facilitate weekly, monthly, and/or bi-monthly age-appropriate bilingual support groups.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary service providers and law enforcement weekly to provide wraparound services for walk-in clients. 
• Attend and participate in regularly scheduled agency and program meetings.

• Design, develop and update VIP’s bilingual trainings, workshops and informational presentations;
• Conduct preventive education workshops on domestic and sexual violence in both English and Spanish for youth and adult community members, social service providers, and other stakeholders;
• Collaborate with Community Engagement Program colleagues to align all content and materials for consistent, powerful messaging;
• Collaborate with Community Organizer and Promotoras team to support their leadership and promote their community-based events and campaigns;
• Establish and maintain linkages with educational and community-based partners to maximize our impact and to deepen and expand partnerships;
• Coordinate VIP participation at coalitions and in collaborative partnerships with other city and social service organizations and agencies to track communities where we have presence and strategically identify locations for increased engagement
• Ensure all presentation, training and workshop materials are regularly updated for consistent, aligned and accurate messaging and accessible to all VIP staff;
• Collaborate with Promotoras on workshops and other community engagement opportunities;
• Collaborate with Data Team to develop tools, collect and analyze data, and participate in ongoing program evaluation;
• Prepare internal quarterly performance reports to share with team, VIP leadership, and other stakeholders;
• Represent VIP at external meetings and events, as needed;
• Participate in supervision, staff meetings and program meetings;
• Perform other tasks as required, including any related supervisory and administrative duties, as needed.

Community Educator

Community Educator in a nonprofit focused on domestic and sexual violence prevention through community engagement and education. Collaborating with stakeholders to promote violence prevention initiatives.

• The Program Manager is responsible for the overall daily operations of the program and the safe dwellings.
• Act as VIP’s primary coordinator to assure that all efforts are fully met and exceed contractual obligations (programmatic and administrative).
• Direct the day-to-day activities of risk management, safety/security, maintenance and client move-in/turn-over.
• Ensure 24/7 services to all program participants and may also be called upon for late night and weekend assistance.
• Manage all contracts to ensure highest degree of program performance and ensure compliance with all state and local laws, policies, regulations and procedures.
• Create and maintain accurate and comprehensive data including statistical information for reporting purposes as determined by VIP and agency funders; including data on delivery of services and occupancy rates.
• Supervise staff; facilitate case conferences and trainings to ensure excellent standards and efficiency in the delivery of services to clients.
• Supervise the development and implementation of supportive programs for victims/survivors of domestic violence.
• Develop and implement corrective action plans for the program as needed.
• Develop a network of emergency services and updated staff schedules to ensure efficient delivery of services and 24 hour coverage.
• Complete regular inspections of all safe dwellings, including fire inspections, and ensure maintenance (emergency and routine repairs, etc.) of all sites.
• Engage, contract, supervise and approve invoices and expenditures for all goods/services required to maintain facility and support services.
• Coordinate bids from vendors for necessary property improvements.
• Continually update operations manual for the program.
• Maintain complete and accurate property files and records.
• Responsible for the supervision of all property safety/security measures.
• Follow-up after program audits or evaluations to improve program performance.
• Monitor the program’s effectiveness in reaching the goals of permanent housing, securing clients’ employment and establishing family stability.
• Analyze, develop and implement procedures and policies to ensure quality service provision.
• Ensure compliance with all child welfare mandated reporting requirements.
