About the role

  • Report directly to the Senior Legal Counsel (reporting to Marianne Clark) and provide direct support to the legal team across the business
  • Assist with management of River Island’s global trade mark portfolio
  • Manage online brand protection and product reviews, liaising with product teams
  • Collate and organise information for infringement cases and assist with case management
  • Review and draft a range of commercial agreements; draft and manage side letters and termination letters
  • Carry out general research and draft guidance notes
  • Support real estate tasks: Land Registry applications, SDLT forms and related payments, obtaining consent for alterations and works to premises
  • Review and advise on marketing materials including competition T&Cs, promotions and Influencer Agreements
  • Assist with data protection and other compliance matters and keep abreast of privacy and consumer law developments across jurisdictions
  • Based at Head Office in West London, liaising with cross-functional teams

Requirements

  • Legal academic qualifications (LLB or GDL) with LPC as a preference
  • Some paralegal (or other legal) experience is essential, retail/fashion experience would be advantageous
  • Be passionate about brands and wanting to work for River Island
  • Ability to interpret the law and apply it in the context of the commercial objectives of the business
  • Hard-working, well organised and able to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure
  • Be pro-active and show initiative at all times
  • Excellent communication skills, both in writing and in person
  • Common sense approach to work
