Seeking Manager/Senior Manager for KPMG's Deal Advisory team in Wellington. Focus on public sector commercial and financial advisory work for enhanced decision-making and new policies.
Responsibilities
Our Wellington Deal Advisory team is looking for candidates at Manager to Senior Manager level to support our public sector commercial, financial, and economic advisory work.
Depending on the experience of the candidate, these roles are likely to be equivalent to an experienced Senior Advisor / Senior Analyst or Principal Advisor / Analyst in most government agencies.
While our team has a commercial focus, we are keen to hear from candidates with public sector background and experience in Machinery of Government, policy development, public sector investment management, the Budget process, or business case development.
As Manager / Senior Manager, you will be responsible for managing delivery of high-quality analysis and advice. This could include direct responsibility for delivering work, leading a small team or a workstream, and / or managing timeframes, scope and budget for a project. Your role would be client facing and will require strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in dynamic situations.
As part of the Deal Advisory team, you could be involved in:
Supporting the development of new government policy or reform programmes, or the business case for a significant government investment;
Providing advice on government investment decisions, including options or economic analysis, financial reviews, or completing financial analysis to support a transaction or Budget bid; and/or
Providing independent commercial advice, designing and running a procurement process, analysing tenders, and supporting the government in its commercial decision making.
Requirements
At least 5-7 years relevant experience, in a government or corporate entity or professional services.
Good understanding and experience of how the New Zealand public sector works, particularly in policy, financial management, business case development.
Experience working in an analytical role, providing both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Strong analytical writing and verbal communication skills, including communicating solutions to complex issues in a simple and accessible way.
Demonstrated ability to manage the delivery of high-quality advice and analysis, both individually and through leadership of a small team / workstream.
Experience developing other team members and supporting others to deliver as part of a team.
An ability to build authentic internal and external relationships to be responsive to client needs.
