Provide materials expertise and technical leadership for multiple material systems across aviation components
Develop and apply metallic materials and processes across a variety of aviation components within the supply chain and services
Work with new products and legacy teams to solve complex technical problems
Collaborate with external parties, industry partners, and universities to develop and execute material concepts
Partner horizontally with design, sourcing, services and quality to ensure robust technical and organizational solutions
Conduct conceptual and theoretical activities relating to development, improvement and usage of materials, coatings and processes
Resolve issues using established procedures and consult senior team members for out-of-scope issues
Develop customer relationships, exchange technical information, and serve as interface between customer and GE Aerospace when required
Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical & Materials Science Engineering
Good level of understanding on metallic materials, their physical and mechanical properties and processing
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and orally in English
Proven self-starter and independent worker who can work with cross-functional teams
Fast in action but with detailed technical review and good documentation
Project Management Skills related to material technologies
Strong teamwork and communication skills, eager to learn continuously
Master of Science and/or PhD in Materials Science Engineering preferred
Awareness and/or experience in aerospace industry preferred
Awareness and knowledge of aerospace materials and material testing; titanium, nickel, iron based super alloys and their processing and properties is a plus
Ability to coordinate several tasks/projects simultaneously and prioritize work
Awareness and knowledge of manufacturing processes such as thermal spray, shot peen, chemical processes, welding, brazing, heat treatment etc.
