About the role
- Freight Pay Manager managing freight payment processes across global network and leading operational excellence. Responsible for compliance, service provider relationships, and financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the end-to-end freight invoice auditing, approval, and payment process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Monitor and resolve exceptions and discrepancies in freight payments, proactively addressing issues to prevent payment delays
- Develop and implement standardized procedures for freight payment across all business units and geographies
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with service providers to ensure service levels are met
- Conduct regular performance reviews with providers, addressing quality issues and driving continuous improvement in payment practices
- Implement and maintain freight payment systems, ensuring they are up-to-date and aligned with industry standards
- Identify and execute process improvement initiatives, leveraging automation and digital tools to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
- Analyze freight payment data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization
- Prepare regular reports on freight payment KPIs, financial performance, and compliance metrics to senior leadership
- Work closely with Finance, ERP, Procurement, and Logistics teams to align freight payment processes with company objectives
- Facilitate effective communication and issue resolution between internal teams and external partners
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, industry standards and company policies related to freight payment
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with freight payment processes, maintaining robust controls and documentation
- Lead multiple cross functional meetings to help ensure prompt payments to provider base
- Support calls for business rollout initiatives, providing subject matter expertise and project leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in freight payment, logistics, or related roles
- Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated expertise in freight payment systems, invoice management, and process optimization
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Proven track record of managing multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- In-depth knowledge of transportation industry regulations, compliance standards, and best practices
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools
