About the role
- Global Commodity Manager managing procurement for complex components in specialized engineering. Collaborating globally to enhance supply security and implement cost-saving strategies.
Responsibilities
- Global responsibility and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the procurement of technically complex components
- Ongoing analysis of global sourcing markets to derive opportunities and risks for the procurement strategy
- Identification, qualification and development of suppliers and the establishment of a strong portfolio of preferred suppliers
- Development and implementation of a global commodity strategy in close collaboration with cross-functional teams to realize cost reductions and ensure supply security
- Identification of process optimization potentials and implementation of measures to realize savings across different time horizons
- Execution of global tenders, preparation of benchmark analyses, as well as costing and negotiation of contracts at the international level
- Definition of targets and budget for the commodity and ensuring the achievement of objectives
- Close cooperation with supplier quality to continuously improve delivery performance and quality
- Development and implementation of a robust risk management approach for the commodity
Requirements
- Degree in engineering or business administration, e.g. Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
- Several years of experience in procurement of commodity groups such as forged parts within a mechanical engineering environment
- Strong technical understanding as well as excellent analytical and conceptual skills
- Experience in leading international teams in a functional capacity and in implementing change processes
- Solution-oriented handling of conflicts and consistent pursuit of objectives
- Effective teamworking even under high workload and in stressful situations
- Openness to intercultural collaboration and global working
- Willingness to undertake regular international travel
- Business-fluent English; additional foreign languages are an advantage
