About the role

  • Global Commodity Manager managing procurement for complex components in specialized engineering. Collaborating globally to enhance supply security and implement cost-saving strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Global responsibility and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the procurement of technically complex components
  • Ongoing analysis of global sourcing markets to derive opportunities and risks for the procurement strategy
  • Identification, qualification and development of suppliers and the establishment of a strong portfolio of preferred suppliers
  • Development and implementation of a global commodity strategy in close collaboration with cross-functional teams to realize cost reductions and ensure supply security
  • Identification of process optimization potentials and implementation of measures to realize savings across different time horizons
  • Execution of global tenders, preparation of benchmark analyses, as well as costing and negotiation of contracts at the international level
  • Definition of targets and budget for the commodity and ensuring the achievement of objectives
  • Close cooperation with supplier quality to continuously improve delivery performance and quality
  • Development and implementation of a robust risk management approach for the commodity

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering or business administration, e.g. Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
  • Several years of experience in procurement of commodity groups such as forged parts within a mechanical engineering environment
  • Strong technical understanding as well as excellent analytical and conceptual skills
  • Experience in leading international teams in a functional capacity and in implementing change processes
  • Solution-oriented handling of conflicts and consistent pursuit of objectives
  • Effective teamworking even under high workload and in stressful situations
  • Openness to intercultural collaboration and global working
  • Willingness to undertake regular international travel
  • Business-fluent English; additional foreign languages are an advantage
