Responsibilities
- Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity
- Contributes to team decision-making in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities
- Deals with changing priorities and differing situations and makes decision that may affect the work of the team
- Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity
- Conducts engineering and related studies. Completes routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with increasing ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; increasingly competent to design, operate and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systems
- Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies
- Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
- four (4) or more years related work experience
- In lieu of Bachelor’s degree(s) AND 4 year(s) related work experience, Bachelor’s degree in another field of study and Masters in Engineering
- Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam (preferred)
- Increasingly proficient in principles of project management (preferred)
- Experience in the utility industry (preferred)
- Department specific experience applicable to the hiring department (preferred)
- Demonstrated advancing application of engineering theories and principles (preferred)
- Increasingly proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing and presenting recommendations (preferred)
- Extensive experience with General Electric Grid EMS/DMS systems (preferred)
- In Depth knowledge of NERC CIP cyber security standards (preferred)
- Broad experience with Electric Transmission systems, including NERC transmission reliability standards (BA, TOP, etc.) (preferred)
- Comprehensive experience with real time computer systems, including programming languages (C++, FORTRAN, etc.), scripting languages (PERL, etc.) (preferred)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to form and maintain positive working relationships with teammates, peers and clients (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to develop processes/procedures for new technologies or changing business needs (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in the development of corporate positions on technical matters related to the future direction of EMS (preferred).
