Responsibilities

  • Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity
  • Contributes to team decision-making in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities
  • Deals with changing priorities and differing situations and makes decision that may affect the work of the team
  • Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity
  • Conducts engineering and related studies. Completes routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with increasing ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; increasingly competent to design, operate and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systems
  • Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintains accurate records and files
  • Supports the company’s goals and represents the company positively and professionally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • four (4) or more years related work experience
  • In lieu of Bachelor’s degree(s) AND 4 year(s) related work experience, Bachelor’s degree in another field of study and Masters in Engineering
  • Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam (preferred)
  • Increasingly proficient in principles of project management (preferred)
  • Experience in the utility industry (preferred)
  • Department specific experience applicable to the hiring department (preferred)
  • Demonstrated advancing application of engineering theories and principles (preferred)
  • Increasingly proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing and presenting recommendations (preferred)
  • Extensive experience with General Electric Grid EMS/DMS systems (preferred)
  • In Depth knowledge of NERC CIP cyber security standards (preferred)
  • Broad experience with Electric Transmission systems, including NERC transmission reliability standards (BA, TOP, etc.) (preferred)
  • Comprehensive experience with real time computer systems, including programming languages (C++, FORTRAN, etc.), scripting languages (PERL, etc.) (preferred)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to form and maintain positive working relationships with teammates, peers and clients (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop processes/procedures for new technologies or changing business needs (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in the development of corporate positions on technical matters related to the future direction of EMS (preferred).
