About the role
- Transportation Operations Technician II responsible for highway maintenance tasks including plowing, repairing guardrails, and vehicle maintenance in Vermont. Active participation in overtime during winter months is expected.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for various tasks related to highway maintenance, such as repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush, patching roads, picking litter, ditching, and more.
- Assist with plowing and salting in winter months, with overtime required.
- May assist in vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Requirements
- One (1) year of work experience in construction, equipment operation, or related manual labor INCLUDING EITHER one season of operating a snowplow with wings OR six (6) months of operating medium or heavy equipment, such as graders, excavators, and backhoes.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- A Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required
- An incumbent must live within reasonable proximity of assigned workstation
- Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement is required within the first six months of employment
- An incumbent must complete all VTTC required coursework within one (1) year or be enrolled.
