About the role

  • Underwriting new or renewal business under 2000 lives for group employee benefits product lines
  • Evaluate, price and propose rate and strategy on small to mid-market Dental, Vision, Life, Optional Life, STD or LTD business
  • Perform underwriting functions associated with manual and experience rating
  • Analyze information on industry, past claim history, financial conditions and other criteria
  • Manage assigned workload to meet internal productivity and time service standards
  • Understand and articulate sales region specific strategies and trends to drive sales and renewal results

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree preferred
  • 2 - 4 years group insurance experience
  • Some underwriting experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Above average math aptitude
  • Ability to make quality risk decisions
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively negotiate/be persuasive
  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
