Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice President, Security & Information Services (S&IS), this position is responsible for the successful delivery of security and IS projects to meet business requirements.
Lead the organization to achieve the successful delivery of strategic security and IS business solutions.
Execute S&IS capital projects supported by the prudent use of technology to ensure the safe, reliable and cost-effective operation.
Accountable to execute AltaLink’s S&IS capital delivery program and collaborate in the development and completion of the overall security and IS strategy, roadmap and project execution.
Provide leadership by working across internal business partners and external delivery partners to continuously improve and lead functional change.
Develop clear and concise business objectives, business process design, and a partnership with business peers to coach and advocate existing technology.
Monitor critical security and IS project development processes to ensure continuous improvement and delivery of value to the business.
Lead a team that develops and implements capital project strategies aligned with business plans, corporate strategy, and security and IS objectives.
Oversee the full lifecycle of capital projects; from initiation through design, development, commissioning, and closeout.
Lead the S&IS Project Management Office (PMO) in portfolio, program and project management functions for the implementation of security and IS capital projects.
Prepare and manage the capital projects budget, including forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting on capital expenditures and capital additions.
Communicate effectively with business leaders to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.
Identify and mitigate risks across technical, financial, and operational domains and ensure compliance with safety, security, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team including program managers, project managers, analysts, coordinators and technical specialists.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer sciences, Business Administration or other related fields.
12-15 years people leadership and business management experience.
Experience in leading IT project management organizations and multidiscipline teams.
Prior experience in the development and delivery of large multi-year business transformation programs including Enterprise Asset Management systems, Enterprise Resource Planning systems and Enterprise Content Management systems.
Experience in the development and support of a regulatory General Tariff application.
Experience in project governance, controls and reporting.
Experience in business planning and investment management.
Experience in communicating and engaging with executive leadership and/or third parties on strategic issues related to capital programs.
Experience in the operational, regulatory and management needs of technology in support of critical infrastructure.
Exceptional communication, organization and time management skills.
Strong customer service orientation with a penchant for working cross-functionally.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive customer outcomes.
Ability to create an inclusive environment.
Experience in procurement and negotiating with contract management (third parties) is an asset.
Experience in procurement controls, security and financial compliance controls is an asset.
Previous experience working in regulated utilities is considered an asset.
