About the role

  • Advise and assist firm attorneys and staff in identification and resolution of conflicts of interest
  • Analyze prospective legal matters across practice groups to identify conflicts of interest
  • Serve as escalation point for Conflicts Resolution Group and New Business Intake teams
  • Advise regarding conflicts resolution, including closed client and former lateral client references and affiliate questions
  • Draft and review engagement terms, conflict waiver letters, and ethical wall memoranda
  • Support onboarding of lateral attorney/paralegal candidates as necessary
  • Work as part of a team with Office of General Counsel attorneys and Conflicts Resolution Group and New Business Intake staff
  • Identify and analyze conflict of interest issues and recommend responses
  • Respond to sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Track, manage, and prioritize responsibilities, emails, and conflicts requests
  • Provide leadership and manage a team of business professionals, including coaching, mentoring and professional development and providing performance feedback
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • JD
  • 3 years’ experience in law firm or in-house legal department
  • Prior experience in conflicts resolution or law firm risk management highly preferred
  • Substantive knowledge of Rules of Professional Conduct and current state of legal ethics issues
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours when needed and to travel on occasion
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time (on-screen reading and typing)
