About the role

  • Review new client and matter forms and query incomplete or unclear information
  • Conduct conflict searches and analyse results, liaising with Partners/Case Handlers
  • Escalate conflict issues to Team Leaders, Head of BAU, Risk Lawyers and General Counsel
  • Maintain and update conflict search database and assist implementation of information barriers
  • Research and verify new clients, establish corporate structures and identify UBOs
  • Create online profiles for PEPs/high risk clients and attribute client risk ratings
  • Seek MLRO/Risk Partner sign-off and advise Case Handlers on mitigation steps
  • Assist in on-going client monitoring and update Client Due Diligence
  • Screen clients and matters for sanctions and escalate adverse findings
  • Carry out conflict checking and onboarding for lateral hires and support junior BAU team
  • Record all conflict and AML communications and conclusions in inception software
  • Assist on execution of projects as and when they arise

Requirements

  • Knowledge and technical expertise in conflicts, AML and sanctions
  • Conducting conflict checks using the firm's conflict database and Black Book
  • Analysing new client and matter forms and identifying legal or commercial conflicts
  • Researching, identifying and verifying clients using online data providers
  • Establishing corporate structures and tracing ultimate beneficial owners
  • Researching and identifying PEPs and high risk clients and attributing risk ratings
  • Seeking sign off from MLROs and Risk Partners and escalating where required
  • Recording AML documentation and conflict research in client and matter inception software
  • Ability to liaise with Partners, Case Handlers, Team Leaders, Risk Lawyers and General Counsel
  • Supporting high volume matter inception and on-going client monitoring
  • Supporting and training junior members of the BAU Team
  • Strong communication, research and documentation skills
