About the role

• Backend Engineer developing solutions for engineering teams to enhance productivity. Working within the Bureau of Technology at Back Market to deliver impactful features.

Responsibilities

• Enable engineering teams to focus on what matters most: delivering impactful features and experiences, while we take care of the development, deployment, and operational excellence behind the scenes.
• Developer Experience: Build and improve the full toolchain (from local development to production), making it seamless for backend, frontend, mobile, and data engineers.
• Automation & Standardization: Eliminate repetitive tasks and manual processes through automation, ensuring alignment on code, configuration, and deployment standards.
• Collaboration: Work closely with Product teams, Staff Engineers, QA, and Chapters to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions (release management, testing, workflow enhancements, etc.).
• Continuous Improvement: Propose, design, and implement enhancements to boost productivity, reliability, and scalability of our engineering platforms.
• Community & Knowledge Sharing: Lead workshops, share learnings, and present at Platform Chapter meetings to promote best practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Performance & Scalability: Optimize our tools and systems to support fast-growing teams and ambitious projects.

Requirements

• Technical Excellence: You possess deep expertise in Python, Bash, or Go, and have a strong command of infrastructure tools such as Kubernetes, CI/CD systems, and cloud platforms (GCP/AWS). You bring proven experience in designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable developer platforms, and are comfortable working across both backend and frontend frameworks.
