Responsibilities
Assist in managing the firm’s Fire Practice settlement teams, including supervising and mentoring attorneys, paralegals, and support staff across various levels
Draft, review, and finalize legal documents such as settlement agreements, releases, minor’s compromises, and other court filings, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable laws and firm standards
Help manage and monitor compliance with the implementation of settlement terms, including disbursement procedures, deadlines and fulfillment of contractual obligations
Oversee and ensure compliance with state-specific laws, court procedures, and professional rules of responsibility, particularly regarding the distribution of settlement funds
Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategy, settlement negotiations, client issues, and procedural compliance
Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners to identify opportunities for process improvement, workflow optimization, and the integration of innovative legal technologies
Communicate professionally and empathetically with clients to explain legal processes, settlement timelines, and case updates
Requirements
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
Active license to practice law in California
5+ years of experience in litigation
Management experience
Proficiency in Adobe, Microsoft Office products
Proficiency with E-Discovery and law programs such as, ShareFile, PACER, CaseAnywhere, Lexis, Smart Advocate, Everlaw, FileVine and OneLegal
Detail oriented and organized, be a team player, be reliable, and capable of multitasking and managing several time-critical projects under tight deadlines
This position requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
