About the role
- Attorney joining Singleton Schreiber's Settlement team in San Diego, supporting the fire practice team and advocating for clients’ rights.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the firm’s Fire Practice settlement teams, including supervising and mentoring attorneys, paralegals, and support staff across various levels
- Draft, review, and finalize legal documents such as settlement agreements, releases, minor’s compromises, and other court filings, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable laws and firm standards
- Help manage and monitor compliance with the implementation of settlement terms, including disbursement procedures, deadlines and fulfillment of contractual obligations
- Oversee and ensure compliance with state-specific laws, court procedures, and professional rules of responsibility, particularly regarding the distribution of settlement funds
- Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategy, settlement negotiations, client issues, and procedural compliance
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners to identify opportunities for process improvement, workflow optimization, and the integration of innovative legal technologies
- Communicate professionally and empathetically with clients to explain legal processes, settlement timelines, and case updates
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in California
- 5+ years of experience in litigation
- Management experience
- Proficiency in Adobe, Microsoft Office products
- Proficiency with E-Discovery and law programs such as, ShareFile, PACER, CaseAnywhere, Lexis, Smart Advocate, Everlaw, FileVine and OneLegal
- Detail oriented and organized, be a team player, be reliable, and capable of multitasking and managing several time-critical projects under tight deadlines
- This position requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
