Responsibilities
Accountable for ensuring teams meet key operational performance goals
Assess and evaluate underwriting processes in order to implement agreed technical standards, controls, practices and procedures, maintaining underwriting disciplines and identifying opportunities for improvements
Follow up regularly with producers to discuss status of new business, upcoming renewals, and renewals in process
Perform customer service and account management responsibilities, resolving issues related to billing, making changes to policies, and answering policy coverage related questions
Conduct regular performance evaluations
Regularly conduct career development conversations with staff and create robust development plans
Make staffing decisions concerning hiring and guide staff development through identifying skills and training needs
Build insurance operations and underwriting skills and knowledge by participating in cross-training
Build strong relationships across the business
Take leadership role in Underwriting team huddles and meetings
Assist in onboarding and training new Underwriting Assistants and Underwriters
Act as subject matter expert for initiatives aimed at continuous improvement
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 4 or more years’ experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment
Insurance certifications
People management experience
Experience working in a production and metrics performance environment
Knowledge of operational budgets
Knowledge of international insurance programs
