About the role
- Utility Locate Auditor ensuring compliance with federal and local regulations. Responsibilities include field observations, electronic documentation, and utility identification across various locations.
Responsibilities
- The ability to pass the Operator Qualification modules and other training requirements in a timely fashion.
- All aspects of the job are to be performed with an emphasis on safety.
- Build and maintain a working knowledge of federal, local and company compliances.
- Field observation including verifying and documenting federal, local and company compliance.
- Completing inspection reports daily.
- Documentation completed electronically on a company provided iPad including: Daily Reports, Pictures, Schedules, Time, and Expenses.
- Working with detailed plans and procedures, tracking quantities and material and verifying the accuracy of mapping and as-built documentation.
- Locate and flag utilities: Gas and electric.
- Flag proposed electric and gas routes.
- Navigate to multiple locations daily.
- Travel may be required for up to 60% of the time.
- Typical work hours range from 40 to 60 hours per week, 5-6 days per week.
Requirements
- 3 years experience performing utility locates
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- A two-year technical degree from an accredited school in a field related to civil engineering construction is a plus
- Experience locating gas, electric
- Ability to perform quality, accurate locates
- Fluency in Ticket Management Systems
- Comprehensive knowledge of local 811 processes/laws
- Familiarity with construction processes, installation methods, utility mapping (as-builts) (preferred)
- Survey experience (preferred)
- Excellent technical, communication, and organizational skills
- A minimum of a high school diploma
- Reliable transportation and ability to perform work at multiple sites
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions.
- Working with hands, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Working at or on uneven terrain, slopes, in confined spaces, or reinforced trenches.
