About the role

  • Automation Engineer developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks for a federal government program. Collaborating closely in a hybrid role for improved software quality and system reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks, scripts, and reusable components for web, API, and backend systems.
  • Develop automation strategies that align with project goals and support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD).
  • Translate functional and technical requirements into automated validation steps and acceptance criteria.
  • Execute automated test suites, analyze results, and track defects through resolution.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using modern DevOps tools and practices.
  • Collaborate with developers, QA teams, and business analysts to ensure test coverage, identify risks, and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, refinement, and retrospectives.
  • Support performance, regression, and integration testing across multiple environments.
  • Provide documentation for test plans, automation processes, results, and recommendations.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in test automation, software testing, or quality engineering.
  • Hands-on experience developing automation using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, JUnit, TestNG, or similar.
  • Experience building and maintaining automated test suites for CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript).
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or comparable automation tooling.
  • Experience with SQL and testing data-driven applications.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, DevSecOps practices, and modern software engineering principles.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments with competing priorities.
