About the role

  • Senior Automation Engineer designing control and automation software for pharmaceutical filling and inspection systems. Collaborating with various engineering disciplines and ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Development, implementation and commissioning of PLC software and modern HMI operator interfaces for pharmaceutical fill/finish systems
  • Responsibility for software architecture, function development and sequence control of highly automated production systems (e.g., filling, weighing, capping, conveying, inspection)
  • Participation in mechatronic overall concepts and support for internal and international commissioning activities
  • Close interdisciplinary collaboration with mechanical engineering, electrical design, quality assurance, validation and project management
  • Further development of software standards, libraries and modular function blocks, as well as preparation of technical documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical regulations (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP5) and supporting customer service and change/improvement processes.

Requirements

  • Completed technical vocational training with further qualification as an engineer (FH/HF) in Electrical Engineering or Automation
  • Several years of experience in PLC programming in machine or special machine engineering – ideally in the pharmaceutical, medical technology or diagnostics environment
  • Strong programming skills in Siemens TIA Portal and WinCC Unified and ideally experience with other control platforms (e.g., B&R, Beckhoff); know-how in motion applications (control algorithms and control/simulation including cam profiles)
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical processes, aseptic environments, cleanroom technology, isolators or RABS and an understanding of GAMP5, GMP and 21 CFR Part 11
  • Ideally experience in robot integration, preferably with Stäubli robots including VAL3 programming
  • Analytical and structured thinking, high initiative, sense of responsibility, flexibility and resilience
  • Basic knowledge of IIoT and edge applications/architectures, including container engines and databases
  • Ideally experience as an automation subproject leader in interdisciplinary, cross-site teams
  • Strong team and communication skills and a high customer orientation in engineering and service contexts
  • Good German and English language skills and willingness to undertake international assignments (e.g., SAT, commissioning, troubleshooting).
