About the role
- Automation Engineer responsible for designing and implementing control systems for energy storage projects at EVLO. Collaborating closely with engineering teams while ensuring data quality and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with Integration and Engineering teams to define technical requirements
- Perform design (plans and specifications)
- Program or modify programmable logic controllers (Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Phoenix Contact)
- Develop or adapt HMI/SCADA interfaces (e.g., Rockwell), with the possibility of mentoring more junior resources
- Participate in large-scale automation programming projects
- Contribute to the maintenance and development of historian databases
- Ensure the quality, consistency, and reliability of collected data
- Actively participate in FAT/SAT testing, commissioning, and pre-operational checks
- Support supervision of equipment installation and validate functional tests
- Assist in diagnostics and troubleshooting during integrations
- Write or update technical documentation and manuals
- Perform occasional site visits for start-ups, commissioning, and support activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Automation
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in automation
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; strong team spirit
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
- Valid driver's license
- Strong knowledge of PLCs (Schneider, Allen-Bradley, Phoenix Contact)
- Proficiency with SCADA software, notably FactoryTalk View
- Knowledge of industrial communication networks: Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, DNP3, IEC 61850
- Familiarity with historian databases (e.g., FactoryTalk Historian)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, control, and single-line diagrams
- Excellent oral and written communication in French and English
- Knowledge of the energy sector is an asset.
