Automation Engineer responsible for designing and implementing control systems for energy storage projects at EVLO. Collaborating closely with engineering teams while ensuring data quality and reliability.
Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with Integration and Engineering teams to define technical requirements
Perform design (plans and specifications)
Program or modify programmable logic controllers (Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Phoenix Contact)
Develop or adapt HMI/SCADA interfaces (e.g., Rockwell), with the possibility of mentoring more junior resources
Participate in large-scale automation programming projects
Contribute to the maintenance and development of historian databases
Ensure the quality, consistency, and reliability of collected data
Actively participate in FAT/SAT testing, commissioning, and pre-operational checks
Support supervision of equipment installation and validate functional tests
Assist in diagnostics and troubleshooting during integrations
Write or update technical documentation and manuals
Perform occasional site visits for start-ups, commissioning, and support activities.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Automation
Minimum of 2 years' experience in automation
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; strong team spirit
Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
Valid driver's license
Strong knowledge of PLCs (Schneider, Allen-Bradley, Phoenix Contact)
Proficiency with SCADA software, notably FactoryTalk View
Knowledge of industrial communication networks: Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, DNP3, IEC 61850
Familiarity with historian databases (e.g., FactoryTalk Historian)
Ability to read and interpret electrical, control, and single-line diagrams
Excellent oral and written communication in French and English
Knowledge of the energy sector is an asset.
