Responsibilities
- Administers radiation therapy to patients following established standards, practices, and guidelines.
- Always performing radiation safety measures for the protection of patients and personnel.
- Collaborates with the supervisor to deliver appropriate, safe, high quality and cost-effective care.
- Plans, prepares, and delivers a prescribed course of radiation to patient.
- Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart and patient-identification prior to treatment.
- Explains procedure to patient as means of communication during treatment.
- Answers questions and reassures patient.
- Reinforces physician’s advice to patient regarding reactions to treatment and to care.
- Prepares room and equipment for patient according to chart specifications for field size, distance, time, and the like.
Requirements
- Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy
- Must possess a valid Massachusetts license in Radiation Therapy
- Graduate of JRCERT-approved or CAHEA-approved Radiation Therapy Technology Program
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge
- Effective verbal and written communication skill
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work cooperatively with all members of the healthcare team.
