About the role

  • Microsoft 365 Automation Engineer designing and maintaining internal solutions in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. Driving automation, efficiency, and integration across business functions with Power Platform tools.

Responsibilities

  • To design, develop, and maintain internal solutions within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, driving automation, efficiency, and integration across business functions.
  • The Microsoft 365 Developer will build and manage business applications, approval workflows, intelligent agents, and data integrations connecting Finance, HR, Legal, and Operations systems, supporting a unified and automated digital workplace.
  • Design, develop, and deploy Microsoft 365-based applications, SharePoint sites and automations using Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse).
  • Create, maintain, and optimise approval workflows and process automations across Finance, HR, Legal, and Operations.
  • Integrate back-office systems (ERP, HRIS, CRM, and document management) with Microsoft 365 tools to streamline data flow and enhance operational transparency.
  • Develop Power BI dashboards and data models for reporting and analytics, supporting data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to capture business requirements and translate them into scalable digital solutions.
  • Build and maintain connectors, APIs, and integrations for internal and external systems as required.
  • Implement intelligent agents and chatbots using Microsoft Copilot, Power Virtual Agents, or equivalent technologies to enhance user experience and productivity.
  • Automate repetitive processes, document handling, and data synchronisation across departments.
  • Continuously review and improve automation performance to ensure reliability and compliance with business standards.
  • Support the design and development of the enterprise data warehouse and reporting environment.
  • Manage ETL pipelines and dataflows between internal systems and Power BI datasets.
  • Maintain data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility across integrated platforms.
  • Stay updated on Microsoft 365 technologies, Power Platform updates, and emerging automation trends.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement and adoption of new capabilities across the business.
  • Support end-users and business teams through training and knowledge sharing.
  • Manage your own workloads and ensure all committed work is completed within the iteration as per the item’s definition of done.
  • Ensure all Work Items have appropriate test coverage and that it is integrated into the release process. Provide expertise for the team to achieve a higher level of test and code deployment automation.
  • Attend CAB meetings as necessary and follow Gain’s Change and Release process for Deployments.
  • Adopt and enhance CI/CD processes tooling for automated deployments of both infrastructure and applications.
  • Adhere to all Information Security policies as necessary implementing security by design in all developments.

Requirements

  • Proven experience developing within Microsoft 365 and Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate, Power BI).
  • Strong understanding of automation design, approval workflows, and process optimisation.
  • Experience integrating back-office systems (Finance, HR, Legal, Operations) using APIs, Graph API, or connectors.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Azure Functions, and Logic Apps.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint Online development and document management solutions.
  • Experience with SQL, data warehousing, and BI modelling.
  • Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD for Power Platform or Microsoft 365 environments
