About the role

  • Life Cycle and Materiel Manager role focusing on engineering support for Royal Canadian Navy’s electrical systems. Managing configuration and design intent through their end-of-life and divestment.

Responsibilities

  • Performing Life Cycle and Materiel Management functions including equipment obsolescence, material compatibility issues, alternate part investigations, maintenance management, and disposal management.
  • Supporting and managing activities associated with the design and configuration control of the vessels, conducting functional and physical configuration audits, as well as deviations and waivers documentation.
  • Providing technical advice to enable electrical and electronic equipment and/or systems to be correctly operated or maintained.
  • Monitoring systems and equipment performance through various reports such as Unsatisfactory Condition Reports (UCRs), Pre-installation failures (PIFs), and technical investigations (TIs).
  • Ensuring proper level of spares are maintained throughout the life of the systems and equipment.
  • Conducting technical investigations into problems associated with marine electrical and electronic systems, including failure analysis and solution recommendation.
  • Developing and reviewing technical documentation including equipment specifications, installation and maintenance instructions, test and trials agendas, and engineering change documentation and drawings.
  • Preparing documented work scopes for the solicitation of quotations from external resources.

Requirements

  • Minimum education requirements: 3-year technical program diploma (for Technologists) or 2-year technical program diploma (for Technicians) in a marine electrical technical field.
  • Certified technologist or technician by a recognized provincial, state, or federal licensing body in a relevant field.
  • Certified as one of the following electrical technical trades of the Canadian Armed Forces: RQPO2 or RQPO2USQ Marine Technician Electrical QL 6A or 6B Marine Electrician.
  • Possess a minimum 8 years of demonstrated professional work experience in the naval, marine, or offshore industry within the last 15 years.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiar with electrical safety standards.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Must be fluent in English.
