About the role
- AVP, Cloud Security Engineer responsible for designing and managing cloud security solutions at Synchrony. Collaborating with teams to ensure compliance and mitigate security risks.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement cloud security architectures and solutions
- Ensure cloud security solutions are scalable, resilient, and aligned with business and technical requirements
- Identify, assess, and mitigate security risks associated with cloud infrastructure and applications
- Implement robust security controls and practices to protect cloud environments
- Ensure compliance with relevant security regulations, standards, and internal policies
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to ensure adherence to security best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, DevOps, and business units, to ensure alignment and integration of cloud security practices
- Provide guidance and support to stakeholders on cloud security-related matters
- Develop and implement incident response plans for cloud security incidents
- Lead and coordinate response efforts to mitigate the impact of security incidents
- Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in cloud security
- Continuously evaluate and enhance cloud security solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Monitor the performance of cloud security measures and controls
- Develop and present regular reports on cloud security posture, risks, and improvement opportunities to senior leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred but not required
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience in cloud security engineering; OR in lieu of a degree, 7+ years of experience in cloud security engineering
- Proven experience as a Cloud Security Engineer or similar role, with a focus on cloud security
- Strong knowledge of cloud security principles, architectures, and best practices
- Proficiency in security tools and technologies (e.g., firewalls, encryption, IAM)
