About the role

  • Packaging Engineering Intern supporting improvements in packaging engineering for medical devices at AirLife. Responsibilities include design verification, validation and related tasks in compliance with FDA guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • This position is responsible for the support of packaging engineering tasks related to improvements to existing products, engineering changes, packaging testing, and product line extensions.
  • Support the coordination, preparation, and testing of packaging configurations.
  • Support any activities related to packaging design verification/validation and packaging shelf-life documents per FDA guidelines.
  • Support packaging improvement projects to achieve project timelines.
  • Perform and complete packaging engineering product prototyping and testing.
  • Assist in maintaining Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and ISO Compliance.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate for this position will have knowledge of the packaging design and development processes used for medical devices.
  • Experience with packaging engineering standards and test methods.
  • The candidate will have the ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply those concepts to practical situations.
  • Proficiency with standard computer software.
  • Knowledge of CAD software is required, and experience with SolidWorks is desired.
  • Technical writing skills are desired.
  • A sophomore or junior year college level in an applicable engineering study is required for this packaging engineering intern position.
  • Experience in packaging engineering within a regulated environment such as food, pharmaceutical or medical device is preferred.
  • Other experience is acceptable for the right candidate.
  • The position requires the candidate to at least be in their sophomore, junior or senior year of studies towards a bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering field.
  • Medical Device Packaging knowledge is preferred such as PKG 452.
  • Travel: As the business needs.
