About the role
- Regional River Scientist focused on Vermont's rivers and floodplains, including river assessments and supporting flood resiliency activities. Collaborating with parties involved to protect river resources while communicating with consultants and landowners.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a regional river scientist for an assigned region
- Support Flood Safety Act regulatory requirements
- Perform Stream Geomorphic Assessments (SGA) and assure data quality
- Provide data synthesis and analysis along with recommendations
- Conduct fieldwork to verify and apply the Statewide River Corridor Map
- Communicate with consultants and landowners regarding river condition activities
- Collaborate with other experts in watershed assessments and restoration projects
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a biological-life or physical science, engineering, a social science, data science, or an environmental or natural resources field
- OR Three (3) years or more of experience in an engineering, environmental, social science, data science, or natural resources field.
