About the role

  • Engineering Project Manager overseeing advanced manufacturing engineering work at STIHL. Responsible for strategic planning, budgeting for capital projects, and developing automation proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced manufacturing engineering work to develop new methods, create cost estimates, and solve engineering challenges.
  • Coordinate/guide engineering/technical aspects of advanced manufacturing assignments.
  • Responsible for strategic planning and budgeting for short, mid and long-term capital projects.
  • Prepare and carry out approved recommendations including tool redesign and alterations, change of material specifications, dimensions, methods, and routing information.
  • Develop proposals for automation, mechanization, methods, and special tooling for cost reduction.
  • Prepare cost estimates involved in changing from present to new methods; estimate savings expected as a result of such change.
  • Plan equipment layout and workflow, and train supervisors and managers in correct production procedures.
  • Investigate new machines and equipment with regard to production features required, prices, and conditions involved.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for management relative to purchase or lease of equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineer or related field
  • All work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience.
  • Maintains currency with respect to technical and supervisory skills by attending training classes, special technical and administration courses, seminars, exhibits and trade shows as needed.
  • German fluency preferred
  • 5 – 7 years
