About the role
- Senior Underwriter expanding and managing commercial casualty portfolio for Starr. Overseeing underwriting analysis and building relationships with brokers and clients in the insurance sector.
Responsibilities
- Solicit, analyze, and underwrite new and renewal business for General Liability, Liquor Liability, Workers’ Compensation, and Commercial Automobile risks
- Evaluate and interpret data to assess risks and potential exposures, determining appropriate coverage terms and pricing for each policy
- Prepare and issue indications, quotations, and binders in a timely and accurate manner
- Track pipeline activity and provide weekly production forecasts to management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with retail and wholesale brokers, as well as clients, to ensure high levels of service and customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with underwriting team members and other departments to achieve company objectives
- Monitor account performance, making recommendations for improvements or changes as needed
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, guidelines, and changes to NCCI and ISO policy forms and endorsements
- Participate in marketing and sales meetings within assigned territories, including travel as required
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience in commercial casualty underwriting
- Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment, pricing, and portfolio management within the commercial casualty insurance segment
- Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize workflows, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with a professional demeanor in both written and verbal interactions
- Established relationships with brokers in the South Central and/or Western Regions
- Proficiency in underwriting software, data analysis, and Microsoft Office Suite
