About the role

  • Manager, Tax Private Equity at SS&C managing tax filings for hedge fund clients. Responsible for review, analysis, and supervision in compliance with tax regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Review Federal and State partnership tax returns (prepared using GoSystems) and work papers for hedge fund clients
  • Review tax estimates for partners of funds
  • Review state and foreign tax withholding payments
  • Review and reconcile cumulative book to tax income and expense adjustments
  • Maintain federal, state, and local tax calendar
  • Review documentation to support tax return filings
  • Review incentive fee reallocations and capital gain allocations via aggregation and layering
  • Review tax analysis, including wash sale, constructive sale, straddle, mark to market adjustments
  • Perform research of relevant tax laws, regulations and rulings to determine proper tax treatment of issues (Federal and state)
  • Review and analyze company financial statements
  • Respond to tax notices
  • Client interaction
  • Supervise and mentor a tax team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Tax; Master’s degree in Taxation or CPA preferred
  • 8+ years of partnership tax experience with primary emphasis in hedge fund required, fund of funds experience preferred
  • 4 + years of supervisory experience
  • Extensive experience with multi state tax return filings
  • Strong experience with state tax filings due to resident partners
  • Strong experience with state tax filings due to source income
  • Strong experience with state withholding tax payments and entity level taxes
  • Strong experience with reviewing partnership allocations
  • Knowledge of foreign reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of K-1 suite software helpful
  • Strong managerial and organizational skills
  • Solid MS Excel knowledge
