About the role

• General Counsel/Legal managing legal aspects, compliance, and advice for a cleantech startup specializing in solar module recycling. Focus on strategic legal advice, internal structuring, and compliance oversight.

Responsibilities

• Strategic legal advice and establishment of the legal function
• Build and structure the internal legal department
• Strategic counsel to the executive management on all legal matters
• Development of legal standards, processes and compliance frameworks
• Handling corporate law matters (shareholder agreements, capital measures, corporate governance)
• Preparation and support for board and investor meetings
• Monitoring and interpretation of all relevant regulatory requirements in recycling, waste law, environmental law, and energy and circular-economy legislation
• Ensuring compliance with authorities and certification bodies
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, including supplier and waste/disposal agreements, technology and license agreements, collaboration and research agreements, employment and service contracts
• Advice on intellectual property (patents, technology protection)
• Identification and management of legal risks
• Management and coordination of external law firms, authorities and industry associations

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer (Wirtschaftsjurist or fully qualified lawyer) with completed First and Second State Examinations or equivalent international qualification
• Minimum 5 years professional experience, ideally in a large law firm, an SME or a start-up in a technology or industrial environment
• Knowledge of environmental, waste or energy law is an advantage
• Strong interface and communication skills to collaborate with external law firms, management and the legal departments of our shareholders are required
• Experience in contract drafting and corporate law
• Commercial understanding, pragmatism and a hands-on mentality
• Ability to present complex issues in a clear and understandable way
• Team player with a strong sense of responsibility
• Excellent German and English skills are required
