About the role

  • Service Manager responsible for logistics services for Sizewell C construction, ensuring safety and efficiency. Leading a team and managing contracts up to £200m across project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead logistics support services for a construction workforce of ~7,900.
  • Maintain an effective logistics corridor by road, rail, and sea, ensuring compliance with planning requirements.
  • Develop and implement a bespoke Delivery Management System (DMS) and manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Oversee traffic throughput from the Freight Management Facility to the site plaza.
  • Manage contracts with values up to £200m across the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and site controls.
  • Coordinate marine operations, including offsite port facilities and the on-site Beach Landing Facility.
  • Develop freight forecasts and delivery slot allocations aligned with the construction programme.
  • Provide technical input and resolve issues related to logistics operations.
  • Deliver line management for Delivery Leads, including career development and performance reporting.
  • Prepare monthly reports on safety, KPIs, SLAs, financials, and forecasting.
  • Nuclear safety responsibilities as detailed in the Nuclear Baseline.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in project logistics and abnormal indivisible loads across all transport modes.
  • Leadership experience in logistics on large infrastructure projects.
  • Track record of delivering within large-scale project environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets up to £250m and develop long-term strategies.
  • Chartered Membership of the Institute of Logistics and Transport.
  • Experience in high-hazard industries or nuclear construction sites.
  • IOSH Construction Safety Qualification.
  • NEC3 Contract training and project management certification (PRINCE2/APM).
  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
  • SMSTS or IOSH qualification holder.
  • Understanding of Principal Contractor role in civil engineering/infrastructure projects.
