Responsibilities
The AI Enterprise Strategist is accountable for defining and accelerating the enterprise-wide AI strategy, governance framework, and operating model.
This role provides overall leadership for AI strategy execution, ensuring alignment across business domains, technology, risk, and control functions.
You will own the integrated scope of work for AI governance, operating model design, architecture alignment, tooling, artifacts, timelines, and organisational change management (OCM).
The role manages and directs supporting AI Operating Model & Governance Consultants and serves as the primary executive interface for AI-related decision-making.
Define and refine the enterprise AI vision, strategic objectives, and guiding principles.
Translate enterprise priorities into a clear, actionable AI roadmap across business and functional domains.
Ensure AI strategy aligns with broader enterprise, digital, data, and technology strategies.
Serve as the executive thought partner on AI strategy, value realisation, and prioritization.
Own the definition and acceleration of the enterprise AI governance framework, including: Decision rights and accountability Policies, standards, and controls Responsible AI, risk, ethics, and regulatory considerations.
Ensure governance is practical, scalable, and embedded into enterprise delivery and operating models.
Partner closely with legal, risk, compliance, security, and technology leaders to ensure alignment and adoption.
Provide executive oversight of governance artifacts, tools, and frameworks.
Lead the design of the enterprise AI operating model, including: Organisational structures and role definitions Funding and engagement models Demand intake, prioritisation, and delivery processes Integration with existing IT, data, and digital operating models.
Work directly with accountable operational, functional, and technology leaders to define: Domain-level AI vision and roadmaps Target-state AI capabilities and maturity progression Ensure clarity of ownership and accountability across AI lifecycle activities.
Provide strategic oversight to ensure AI governance and operating model decisions align with: Enterprise architecture principles Data and AI platform strategy Scalability, interoperability, and security requirements.
Partner with architecture and engineering leaders to define AI guardrails and target-state capabilities. Ensure consistency across domains while enabling flexibility for innovation.
Own the integrated OCM and communications approach for enterprise AI adoption. Ensure clear, consistent executive messaging on AI vision, governance, and operating model changes. Oversee development of change, enablement, and communication artifacts.
Drive stakeholder alignment and adoption across business and technology communities.
Own the end-to-end scope of work, including: Timelines, milestones, and delivery plans Artifact development and quality assurance Risk, dependency, and issue management Lead and direct interim AI Operating Model & Governance Consultants.
Facilitate executive workshops, decision forums, and leadership reviews. Provide regular status updates and recommendations to senior leadership.
Requirements
15+ years of experience in enterprise strategy, operating model design, digital/AI transformation, or management consulting.
Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-wide AI, data, or advanced analytics initiatives.
Proven ability to design and operationalize governance frameworks in complex organizations.
Strong understanding of AI lifecycle, platforms, architecture concepts, and risk considerations.
Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience operating effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving, interim environments.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without formal authority.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with Responsible AI, AI risk management, or regulatory AI frameworks.
Prior experience engaging executive leadership and boards on AI topics.
Consulting background strongly preferred.
Familiarity with large-scale enterprise or regulated environments.
