About the role
- Design Engineer producing mechanical designs for Spartan Emergency Response vehicles. Collaborating with manufacturing teams to deliver innovative, reliable, and functional designs.
Responsibilities
- Produce designs that meet cost, quality, reliability, performance, and serviceability targets
- Create and manage models, drawings, bills of material and other pertinent engineering data
- Incorporate customer requirements and needs into a robust design
- Apply engineering design changes into the manufacturing process
- Provide manufacturing process support
- Evaluate, test and specify materials for cost reduction, quality improvement, and/or new product introduction
- Evaluate current designs for product and cost improvement opportunities
- Interface with all areas of the Spartan team to determine product needs and specifications
- Solve complex problems with minimal assistance
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or similar) required.
- Background in complex machine or vehicle product design
- 2+ years of Solid works 3D modeling experience minimum
- 3+ years of AutoCAD drafting experience minimum
- Detail oriented with strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability in bringing engineering projects to completion, on time and within budget
- Strong project management and interpersonal skills
- Energetic, motivated, team player
- Thorough understanding of the production manufacturing operations and design for manufacturability
- Demonstrated knowledge of materials specifications, properties, and processing techniques
- Commitment to excellence and high standards
- Versatile, flexible, and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities
