About the role

  • Maintenance Engineer developing and improving maintenance plans for UK trains at Hitachi Rail. Collaborating with teams to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and continuously improve UK HRL product maintenance plans throughout the life of the trains, ensuring high levels of safety, reliability and availability are met at all times.
  • Develop engineering processes to enable maintenance work to be carried out in an efficient manner in conjunction to UK HRL maintenance strategies.
  • Develop Hitachi’s maintenance philosophy using condition-based maintenance to assist in maintenance activities.
  • Facilitate change control to implement updates to maintenance plans and documentation.
  • Support the continued development of the maintenance management system (MMS) to ensure it meets the needs of the maintenance plan.
  • Assist in optimising the company’s maintenance policy and development of the best European/World Class maintenance practice in support of current and future contracts.
  • Where required, undertake FMECA of systems and drive the FRACAS process to yield targeted maintenance solutions.
  • Liaise with Hitachi and external personnel, including suppliers, as required to undertake the duties of the post.

Requirements

  • Experience of delivering engineering support while working with a maintenance team in a modern rolling stock maintenance environment.
  • Previous experience in defining and optimising maintenance requirements, including producing justification reports.
  • Understanding of engineering benefits to the maintenance processes implemented.
  • Robust knowledge and experience of railway engineering standards and regulations.
  • Previous use of modern maintenance management systems (MMS) and associated reliability and available trend analysis.
  • Qualifications Degree or equivalent qualified engineer or equivalent proven railway experience
  • Previous experience of asset maintenance management systems on UK rolling stock
  • Previous experience in product improvement and reliability engineering on UK rolling stock
