Drive the creation of high-quality real-time visual effects, setting both artistic and technical benchmarks for the team.
Take ownership of complex effects work- from concept to final implementation- ensuring clarity, performance, and visual impact.
Collaborate with design, art, and code leadership to shape gameplay experiences and maintain a cohesive project vision.
Mentor and support junior and mid-level artists, sharing best practices and fostering growth across the team.
Anticipate technical challenges, propose creative solutions, and help establish efficient workflows and pipelines.
Contribute to documentation, reference gathering, and effect libraries, ensuring resources remain clear and accessible for the wider team.
Requirements
**Proven professional experience in real-time VFX, with a portfolio that demonstrates exceptional timing, clarity, artistry, and technical execution.**
Advanced proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Blender, Photoshop, Substance, and After Effects (or equivalent software).
Deep understanding of particle system design, texture workflows, and real-time performance optimisation.
Strong experience with simulation tools like Houdini and Embergen (or similar) for creating complex flipbook assets and simulations.
Ability to take abstract concepts, design goals, or high-level direction and translate them into polished, performant effects that enhance gameplay and storytelling.
A track record of collaborating effectively across design, art, and code to influence and deliver on a cohesive project vision.
Experience mentoring or supporting junior and mid-level artists, sharing knowledge, and setting high standards for craft.
Familiarity with pipelines, profiling, source control, and performance budgets, with the ability to identify and solve technical challenges proactively.
