About the role

  • Safety Manager providing engineering advice and guidance for acquisition safety policies and delivery across complex platforms. Role ensures safe and suitable equipment and systems are delivered to Front Line Commands.

Responsibilities

  • Generate, update, review and endorse technical safety requirements and artefacts.
  • Develop, manage and maintain effective Safety Management Systems.
  • Identify and analyse hazards, evaluate risk reduction measures and ensure these are adequately documented and managed.
  • Provide informed safety engineering advice across environmental and technical themes.
  • Support Project Safety Panels and contribute to acquisition decision making.
  • Manage contractual safety requirements and oversight of contractor safety activities.
  • Support verification, validation, testing and evaluation of safety aspects.
  • Develop and maintain safety assurance plans and support safety case preparation.
  • Support policy and process development in line with corporate Acquisition Safety standards.

Requirements

  • STEM qualification at RQF Level 4 (or equivalent) or higher.
  • Wide-ranging experience providing technical advice and delivering successful safety systems/acquisition engineering outcomes.
  • Demonstrable experience leading safety engineering activities within a regulated environment.
  • Professionally registered as Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Registered Scientist (RSci), or working towards professional registration with a relevant institution.
