About the role

  • Expert Compliance & Risk Consultant collaborating with Electric Engineering and Planning teams. Overseeing NERC Planning standards and compliance while developing strategies for risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Electric Engineering, Planning, Electric Operations, and Enterprise NERC Compliance Office
  • Provide functional area oversight of NERC Planning standards
  • Support ongoing mitigation plans filed with the Regional Entity (WECC)
  • Partner with Electric Engineering business units on the development of mitigation plans
  • Collaborate with controls verification team on development and implementation of test plans
  • Assist with annual gap analysis
  • Support investigations into compliance issues with NERC
  • Develop data-driven business cases for specific actions and risk mitigation alternatives
  • Ensure readiness for new or changing NERC requirements
  • Provide strategic direction regarding NERC compliance in common with CPUC, OEIS, and CAISO
  • Identify gaps between compliance requirements and guidance documentation
  • Identify opportunities for new internal controls
  • Help build additional internal controls
  • Support development of compliance narratives and RSAW documentation
  • Support during WECC/FERC audits
  • Provide inputs into FERC/NERC policy regarding new or revised NERC Reliability Standards
  • Support during CAISO Annual Maintenance Review

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 7 years of relevant experience
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
  • Certified Risk Management Professional (RIMS-CRMP)
  • Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP)
  • Leading Professional in Ethics and Compliance (LPEC)
  • Experience with Transmission Operations
  • Experience with Transmission Planning
  • 4 years' experience managing compliance/risk programs or controls
  • Broad expertise in the regulatory space of utilities
  • Advanced knowledge and application of internal control concepts and/or risk analysis & assessment
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, and change management skills
  • Ability to manipulate data and draw conclusions/make recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate complex data effectively to various audiences including executives
  • Ability to influence others to achieve understanding, acceptance, and commitment to act
  • Highly flexible, self-directed, and able to adapt well to a rapidly changing environment.
