About the role
- Security Officer ensuring safety and security of Yankee Candle assets and personnel. Responsiblities include monitoring, patrols, incident response, and safety training at the corporate campus.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the safety and security of all Yankee Candle assets, employees and guests
- Aids in the investigation of accidents and incidents, including theft, drugs and safety along with human resources and local as well as state law enforcement
- Security staff are considered essential and are on duty regardless of weather conditions
- Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure corporate campus for all employees and guest by monitoring movement of both through CCTV, DVR, maintain facility door locks prior to calling outside vendor, Access Control Equipment
- Conducts random vehicle and foot patrols, arm/disarm, open/close all Yankee Candle Company buildings and properties 24/7
- Assist in making sure employees follow company policies whether they be Security or Safety that have been set forth
- Conducts interviews with witnesses, gathers pertinent information regarding accidents and incidents
- Participates in higher level investigations and terminations involving theft, drugs, and safety in conjunction with Human Resources
- Maintains reports of a confidential nature including medical emergencies, employee and guest complaints, employee terminations/suspensions, security of all Yankee Candle Company premises
- Issues appropriate access control level for all employees temporary, full time and seasonal by updating access control system, making badges, issuing keys to appropriate staff and maintaining records of such as well as terminating access upon suspension or terminations
- Routinely responds to medical emergencies, fire and burglary alarms/Troubles/ and Supervisory signals
- Responsible for routine inspections of sprinkler systems/fire gauge readings, fire extinguishers, defibrillators, for each facility monthly, as well as testing fire pumps on a weekly basis and assists in quarterly inspections of these systems with outside vendors
- Responsible for Hot work Permits issued and pre & post inspections & verify contractors are certified for hot work and fire watch
- Employee/Visitor motor vehicle assists, including lock-outs, jump starts, and flat tires
- Assist in the evacuation in the event of an emergency; liaison in charge of maintaining the call-in log and updating the phone in event of shift cancellations due to weather or other emergencies as directed by a member of EC
- Contacts the appropriate person /persons in the event of a power outage
- Conducts Safety Training (works with Safety on written Safety Document) for all outside contractors and vendors; maintains up to date spreadsheets on all approved contractors/vendors for onsite approval
- Transport confidential financial information between buildings.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- 1-2 years of related experience
- Certification from the M.C.J.T.C. Reserve/intermittent Police Officer Academy or equivalent required
- First responder and CPR certification, valid driver’s license required
- Effective written and oral communication skills, public relations, and general administrative skills
- Ability to work with confidential information and situations
- Typical Retail, Manufacturing, Logistics and Office Environment.
- Physical ability to restrain confrontational employees and guest as needed.
