About the role

  • Sr. Network Engineer focusing on custom network designs and troubleshooting for Comcast Business. Providing Tier IV support with capacity planning and technical guidance for junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the design of custom enterprise network solutions for Comcast Business customers
  • Troubleshooting, installing, implementing and administering network systems
  • Providing Tier IV Help Desk escalation support
  • Analyzes capacity issues and develops capacity planning models
  • Responsible for ensuring planned maintenance and testing activities are executed
  • Developing guidelines for network configuration and security standards
  • Serves as a technical lead, providing guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers
  • Leads the design and implementation of custom network solutions for existing and potential customers
  • Follows best-practice industry standards to provide a network design which is functional, scalable and secure
  • Supports the Solutions Architect group to design, document and implement customer pilots
  • Provides network engineering support to Sales organization as required
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves customer network issues
  • Researches, evaluates and provides recommendations for new hardware and software solutions
  • Creates technical presentations as needed, presenting to various audiences
  • Develops, documents and maintains processes and procedures related to design, implementation, maintenance and operations of various complex customer networks
  • Analyzes customer bandwidth requirements and system interdependencies as required
  • Supports various professional services projects for existing or prospective customers
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary

Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. Degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience in network design, implementation, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of complex networks
  • CCNP, JNCIP, FNCSP(NSE4), CCVP, CCSP Certification or equivalent on-the-job experience considered
  • Strong working knowledge of various Vendor routers, switches, firewalls, SDWAN appliances and wireless devices to include; Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Juniper, Aerohive, Mist and Cradlepoint
  • Strong understanding of networking technologies to include : SDWAN technologies
  • High Availability protocols such as; HSRP, VRRP, GLBP
  • IP Routing protocols to include; RIPv1, RIPv2, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, Policy Routing
  • Tunneling protocols to include; GRE, IPSec, DMVPN, IWAN
  • QOS, Traffic Policing and Shaping
  • ACLs, AAA, TACACS+, RADIUS, SNMP, DHCP
  • Switch VLANs, VTP, STP
  • Wireless Networking
  • Understanding of VoIP, SIP and PRI voice technologies
  • Understanding of various network tools to include WhatsUp Gold, SolarWinds Orion, Cisco CCE, Cisco Prime, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, Wireshark or Netscout
  • Understanding of various compliance requirements, to include, but not limited to, PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOC a plus
  • Organized individual with the ability to manage multiple projects or tasks, while in a leadership or team member role.
  • Strong technical documentation skills, to include creating network diagrams, operations and maintenance procedures, and technical presentations.
  • Strong verbal skills, to include technical presentations to all levels of technical expertise.
