About the role

  • Controller/Director of Accounting overseeing financial operations at Mytra. Building internal accounting functions and leading ERP implementation in a high-growth startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations (including Payroll, AP, AR, and Month-End) and oversee the transition and management of our 3rd party external accounting partners.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Legal, and other departments on ad-hoc projects including forecasting, customer P&Ls, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Go beyond traditional entries to drive business results, such as cash flow improvement projects, working capital management, excess inventory analysis, and driving improvements on billing rates.
  • Prepare the organization for its first external financial audit by establishing audit-ready processes, documentation, and comprehensive internal controls.
  • Ensure strict compliance with GAAP and relevant accounting standards; implement rigorous month-end and year-end close procedures to support audit requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and support investor reporting requirements.
  • Lead the end-to-end implementation of our new ERP system and supporting operational systems (procurement, manufacturing, payroll) as the primary finance representative.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Manufacturing stakeholders to gather requirements, ensuring the system meets business needs while establishing correct GAAP requirements and process documentation.
  • Strategically migrate all external accounting functions in-house. Hire and scale a high-performing internal team (including Tax, Audit, Financial Systems, and Cost Accounting) to support Mytra’s strategic growth.

Requirements

  • Deep experience in a hardware manufacturing environment with a specific focus on the COGS side of the business (inventory, supply chain, product costing).
  • Proven experience as a Senior Manager, Director, or Controller with the ability to own the function autonomously.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and the ability to set accounting requirements for complex operational flows.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage external audits and establish internal controls from the ground up.
  • Experience improving processes in AP, AR, and Expense management to bring them to "best in class" standards.
  • "Big to Small" Trajectory: ideally, you have experience working for a large, structured company and have successfully transitioned that expertise into a dynamic startup environment.
  • Experience driving ERP implementations, specifically the ability to collaborate effectively with system architects and external consultants to design financial workflows.
  • A track record of delivering business results beyond compliance, such as successful cash management initiatives or product costing accuracy improvements.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation + equity grants at a high growth company backed by top tier VCs
  • Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), commuter benefits, and pet insurance
  • Lively modern combined office and lab space where we rapidly iterate through design, build and test phases
  • Lunch and snacks provided in the office; we eat and share stories together at the “long” table
  • Flexible hours and flexible PTO
