Collections Specialist managing net-term accounts at Motive, driving predictable recoveries through customer relationship management. Collaborating with internal finance to address billing issues and ensure accurate invoicing.
Responsibilities
As a specialized collections professional for Net Term Accounts, you will own a defined customer portfolio and drive predictable recoveries through a deep understanding of each customer’s billing requirements, timely and consistent follow-ups, and strong, trust-based relationships with customer AP teams and Motive’s internal stakeholders.
You will partner closely with internal finance teams to address and resolve billing issues promptly, ensuring accurate invoicing and expedited cash conversion.
You’ll leverage analytical tools, precise communication strategies, and adherence to defined processes and KPI metrics to meet and exceed goals.
Master each portfolio customer’s billing requirements (POs, invoice submission method/portal, remit details, approved contacts, statement cadence, tax/doc requirements), document them clearly, and proactively ensure invoices are compliant to prevent delays.
Execute timely follow-ups across email, phone, and portal messages with a disciplined cadence before and after due dates; track promises-to-pay, escalate early warning signs, and close the loop on commitments.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customer AP departments to quickly resolve disputes, validate processing timelines, and secure remittances; serve as a consistent, reliable point of contact.
Partner with internal Sales and Account teams (e.g., Account Executives, Account Managers, and Customer Success Managers) to align on customer context, unblock approvals, and coordinate resolution paths that support both customer satisfaction and cash outcomes.
Collaborate with Finance/Billing (and related teams) to research, address, and correct billing issues such as pricing discrepancies, credits, tax, or invoice errors; drive root-cause fixes and close exceptions fast.
Manage day-to-day account portfolio health: monitor aging and risk, prioritize outreach, segment by exposure and payment behavior, and drive actions that reduce DSO and increase current AR.
Maintain accurate, complete documentation of all outreach, disputes, commitments, and resolutions in the system of record, ensuring a clear audit trail and portfolio visibility.
Review customer credits, debits, payment history, and execute follow-ups as necessary.
Generate reports tracking collection performance and payment trends; analyze data to identify areas for improvement in collection strategies.
Ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations regarding collections; participate in audits and implement feedback for process improvements.
Requirements
4+ years of experience in a customer-facing role related to collections; SaaS collections and Quote-to-Cash experience is advantageous.
Proven success managing a portfolio of net-terms accounts with disciplined follow-up and relationship-building with AP stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to partner with Sales/Account and Finance/Billing teams to correct billing issues and accelerate recoveries.
Strong communicator (written and verbal), highly organized, and effective in fast-paced, dynamic environments with minimal supervision.
Proficient with Excel/Google Sheets and familiar with Zuora/Salesforce/collections software.
Detail-oriented, accountable, and resilient; comfortable working under pressure and meeting strict deadlines; open to feedback and continuous improvement.
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS); specialization in accounting or finance is a plus.
