About the role
- Legal Counsel providing advice to Messe Berlin on corporate and civil law matters. Engaging in contract management and supporting operational processes with legal expertise.
Responsibilities
- Advise the operational and central business units of Messe Berlin and its group companies on all legal matters that arise, with a focus on civil, commercial and events law
- Draft and revise template agreements and general terms and conditions, and provide legal support for and help shape the associated operational processes
- Draft and review bespoke contracts, primarily covering civil-law matters
- Examine specific legal questions across various areas of law
- Advise on new projects and/or business models and develop legally secure, practical solutions
- Instruct, manage and coordinate external counsel domestically and internationally for selected matters, and act as the legal interface within the Messe Berlin Group
- Monitor relevant legal developments and regulations and prepare/"translate" them for internal business units
- Quickly familiarize yourself with priority topics as required
Requirements
- Successful completion as Assessor Juris (Ass. Jur.) or Master of Laws (LL.M.)
- Solid legal knowledge and ideally initial professional experience as a lawyer, in-house counsel (Syndikus) or corporate legal advisor
- Strong interest in thinking beyond strictly legal issues and finding practical solutions
- Excellent written and spoken English
