About the role

  • Registered Nurse Lactation Consultant providing healthcare services at Naval Medical Center. Promoting breastfeeding and collaborating with departments for patient care education.

Responsibilities

  • Actively promote breastfeeding and develop and implement standards of care and guidelines for assisting breastfeeding mothers in all areas of the organization as well as existing programs, such as: OB, Childbirth Education, and Breastfeeding classes.
  • Be responsible for organizing information and preparing marketing material to promote breastfeeding, collaborating with Department Heads from Pediatrics, Family Practice, and OB/GYN for patient care education.

Requirements

  • Education: Associates Degree of Nursing
  • Experience: Possess a minimum of 1 year experience as an RN within the last two years
  • Certifications: Board Certification. Possess and maintain certification as a lactation consultant as determined by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE). In addition to Basic Life Support (BLS), possess and maintain certification of Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse. Possess and maintain certification as a lactation consultant.
