About the role

  • Associate Manager overseeing compliance with data protection regulations and maintaining data privacy standards at Manulife. Monitoring controls and training staff on privacy data protection.

Responsibilities

  • ensure first line of defense complies with data protection regulations and maintains high standards of data privacy
  • monitor and assess controls that protect sensitive information
  • monitor and test to ensure compliance with privacy regulations and internal policies
  • monitor processes and controls to endure the protection of sensitive data, including personal and financial information
  • identify and assess privacy and data security risks across the organization
  • provide guidance and training staff on privacy and data protection
  • participate in privacy incident management and collaborate with Privacy & Legal Counsel on legislative updates
  • collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address privacy and data security issues
  • maintain accurate records and documentation of all privacy and data incidents
  • prepare and present privacy reports to senior management

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, or a related field
  • A master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CISSP) is preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience in data privacy, data protection, or information security roles
  • Knowledge of Canada data privacy laws and regulations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead manage projects and drive organizational change
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities effectively
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset
