About the role
- Junior Tax Lawyer providing advisory services at Machado Meyer, a leading law firm in Brazil. Engaging in tax analysis and providing solutions in economic segments.
Responsibilities
- Assist with descriptive and critical analysis of operational structures within specific economic segments, identifying opportunities and inefficiencies;
- Draft legal opinions, presentations, and spreadsheets regarding the tax regime in Brazil;
- Assess special tax regimes and applicable tax incentives;
- Assist in preparing responses to various tax inquiries;
- Provide advisory support for foreign trade transactions (import and export), including the use of special customs regimes;
- Support tax advisory services for corporate reorganization projects;
- Draft submissions and appeals in administrative tax and customs proceedings;
- Support client advisory work related to the implementation of Tax Reform.
Requirements
- Law degree and active OAB registration;
- Advanced/Fluent English;
- Experience in indirect tax advisory – ICMS, PIS/Cofins, IPI, ISS;
- Previous experience in customs law is a plus;
- Experience with the oil & gas sector and industrial clients is a plus.
