About the role
- HSE Engineer managing turnaround operations at a chemical site. Ensuring HSE compliance and risk management during major shutdowns.
Responsibilities
- Participate in defining HSE policies to be implemented in coordination with the site's HSE supervision
- Develop, in collaboration with local teams and Corporate, and validate occupational risk prevention programs to be implemented during the turnaround (TA)
- Prepare the HSE preparation schedule
- Monitor the progress of HSE preparation
- Plan and conduct joint inspections and risk assessments with external contractors; prepare, update, organize, and lead prevention plans
- Ensure proper integration of the HSE Quality Assurance Plan requirements
- Draft and obtain approval for HSE procedures specific to the turnaround
- Define and implement a multilingual HSE onboarding module for major shutdowns
- Ensure proper implementation of the asbestos and lead risk management plan defined with the site's Industrial Hygiene (IH) manager
- Contribute to defining the criteria for writing work permits
- Facilitate the approval of work permits for the HSE department
- Validate, in collaboration with the Industrial Hygiene (IH) department and Operations teams, the procedures for taking units offline and returning them to service
- Act as the custodian for Turnaround procedures and standing instructions.
Requirements
- Master's degree (Bac+5) ideally in HSE or a discipline related to production, process, or maintenance activities on a petrochemical site
- Solid experience in defining and implementing HSE policy, with a primary focus on occupational risk prevention
- Experience on a petrochemical site in HSE, production, or maintenance
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Experience drafting specifications and selecting contractors for HSE-related activities associated with shutdowns
- Proficient with basic office software (Word, Excel)
- Working proficiency in English.
