About the role

  • Junior Product Owner joining a fintech company to support product ownership and development. Collaborating with senior members to enhance financial management software solutions in a hybrid role.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Product Owner in evolving products used by multiple clients, countries, and tenants, learning to ensure clear vision and roadmap alignment to business and client needs.
  • Assist in balancing global product consistency with local market and regulatory requirements.
  • Take ownership of our early stage Asset Management platform as you develop, acting as a point of accountability for product outcomes and value delivery under the guidance of the Senior Product Owner.
  • Support the maintenance and prioritisation of product backlogs, learning to ensure they are transparent, well-refined, and aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Assist in making adaptive & informed decisions to support changing business needs & priorities.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to plan and deliver work through regular sprint cycles, learning Agile methodologies.
  • Develop effective tooling, time management and organisational skills to implement an Agile based delivery approach.
  • Support gathering, analysing, and documenting business, functional, and non-functional requirements from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Learn to translate requirements into clear user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
  • Assist in defining and continuously improving end-to-end customer and user journeys across the platform.
  • Support development teams throughout delivery, including sprint planning, refinement, reviews, and release activities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Engineering, QA, Professional Services, Project management, Service Delivery) to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Support engagement with group clients to understand their needs, challenges, and feedback, learning how to incorporate these into the product roadmap.
  • Learn to clearly communicate priorities, progress, and decisions to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Support identification of opportunities to leverage AI and automation to enhance product processing, decision-making, efficiency, or user experience.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends in AI and financial services technology.

Requirements

  • Some experience in a fast paced business working with software, financial products or insurance.
  • Basic understanding or willingness to learn Agile / Scrum methodologies and product backlog management.
  • Demonstrated ability or strong potential to understand detailed and complex problems and convert and communicate them into understandable requirements.
  • Interest in working with complex products that support multiple clients, configurations, or markets.
  • Basic understanding or eagerness to learn about end-to-end customer journeys and user-centred design principles.
  • Good stakeholder management and communication skills, with a willingness to develop these further.
  • Eagerness to learn to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment and take decision making accountability.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and use agile tools (JIRA, Confluence, Slack or similar).
  • Desirable:
  • Experience within financial services, fintech, financial software/products, or regulated software environments.
  • Experience working within operational or data analyses roles to support understanding business needs.
  • Interest or hands-on experience in applying AI or machine learning within software products.
  • Familiarity with data-driven product development and performance metrics.
