About the role
- Controls Engineer I developing control systems for material handling automation projects. Collaborating with electrical engineering and traveling to customer sites as needed.
Responsibilities
- develops control system designs, programs, and commissions PLC code
- creates graphical user interfaces for material handling systems
- tests code functionality and troubleshoots on-site electrical equipment
- collaborates with Electrical Engineering on control network architecture
- defines electrical device requirements
- supports project estimates
- recommends productivity and cost improvements
- designs and develops control systems for material handling automation projects
- travels to customer sites and project locations up to 70% of the time, including short-duration assignments and multiple 10/4 rotations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field required
- 1-3 years of work experience in the material handling industry or a similar industry required
- experience with Rockwell Automation PLC programming, including GuardLogix
- Siemens TIA Portal PLC programming, and Starter
- experience with Ethernet/IP network architecture
- experience interpreting electrical schematic drawings and understanding HMI programming
- basic troubleshooting skills for PLC and electrical equipment
