About the role

• Java Software Developer for Smart Grid applications at Landis+Gyr. Collaborate with multicultural teams to design and maintain scalable software using Java/J2EE.

Responsibilities

• Develop applications focused on Smart Grid, working alongside multicultural and multidisciplinary teams, according to requirements gathered by the Product Manager (PM) from clients.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable software using Java/J2EE and open-source technologies, following Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.
• Address and fix issues by interacting with involved teams, analyzing system specifications, and documenting actions taken.
• Actively participate in the end-to-end software development lifecycle, from the creation to the delivery of requirements, new features, and continuous improvement.
• Apply programming best practices: clean code development, unit test coverage, and refactoring.
• Communicate clearly and present technical information assertively and concisely to global teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Systems Analysis and Development, or Computer/Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
• Advanced English for communication in technical and corporate environments.
• Experience with Java/J2EE in scalable enterprise applications.
• Experience with Akka or Pekko for distributed and concurrent systems.
• Strong knowledge of JPA, Hibernate, and JDBC for data persistence and efficient access.
• Knowledge of relational databases: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Oracle.
• Knowledge of agile methodologies: Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.
• Familiarity with IDEs such as IntelliJ, Eclipse, or similar.
• Desirable experience with: Version Control Tools (Git, GitHub, Gerrit, etc.)
• CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, etc.)
