Grants Accountant managing invoices and expense payments for IRCO, a non-profit organization. Responsible for maintaining records and ensuring financial accountability with detailed reporting.
Responsibilities
Prepare invoices and reports as directed by funder requirements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards
Reconcile balances for accounts receivable, aging and collection reports
Respond to funder requests for supporting documents
Maintain communication with program managers regarding outstanding receivables
Monitor accounts receivables variances in collaboration with budget analysts and program management
Prepare payments for a certain category of expenses
Other tasks within the accounting team as needed
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business or similar combination of education and experience
Two years’ experience in accounting, preferably in a nonprofit organization
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) accounting
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Must be proficient in the English language
Oral and written communication skills commensurate with the needs of the position
Experience/proficient in Management Information Package (MIP), Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and a variety of software packages
Respectful cross-context service; demonstrated skill in understanding variation in community norms
Successful experience in accounting, with integrated computerized accounting systems
Experience and knowledge of State and Federal regulations and related laws
Experience in Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables (preferred)
Knowledge of automated accounting systems and capability to assemble, review, and maintain accounting, budget, or financial transactions (preferred)
Strong computer skills including proficiency in the use of financial software (MIP preferred), Excel and related software applications (preferred)
Strong communication skills in a multilingual, multi-background organization (preferred)
Strong ability to work with multi-background staff in a team setting (preferred)
Ability to use initiative and judgment with competing tasks and responsibilities (preferred)
Ability to function in a positive manner in a demanding work environment, to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility, to respond to priorities and schedules that change frequently, and to meet commitments (preferred)
