About the role
- Lead as a Principal Consultant in Safety, Risk, and RAM at io consulting. Deliver advanced solutions in high-hazard industries through a hybrid working model.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver advanced technical safety, risk and RAM solutions
- Oversee formal safety studies ensuring high standards of quality, cost, and schedule
- Act as a technical authority guiding teams and reviewing project deliverables
- Expand services into complementary areas like FTA, RCA, FMECA, and human factors engineering
- Support clients in meeting regulatory and legislative obligations with clear, authoritative analysis and advice
- Contribute to business development, proposals, and client engagement
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, building capability and confidence within the team
Requirements
- A degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or another relevant STEM field
- 10–15 years of experience in safety, risk, and/or reliability engineering, ideally with exposure to high-hazard industries (energy, oil & gas, chemicals, renewables)
- Proven track record delivering complex technical safety/risk analyses and RAM studies at a senior level
- Strong background in tools and methodologies such as PHAST, SAFETI, QRA, FTA, FMECA, MAROS, TARO
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, combined with strong communication and report writing ability
- A collaborative, proactive, and flexible approach to consultancy work
